“Real Housewives of Pretoria” Star Arrested for Shoplifting in Florida

Shoplifting3

Shoplifting may seem like a crime that teens and poor people engage in, but even those who are well-off financially can be compelled to steal.

A reality TV personality and her husband were arrested in Florida after authorities accused them of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of groceries from a supermarket over a span of several months.

A star of the South African reality series “Real Housewives of Pretoria” and her husband were taken into custody by Boca Raton police on March 10. The couple is facing charges of aggravated grand retail theft after investigators alleged they shoplifted more than $5,300 worth of items from a local Publix store.

According to police reports, the alleged thefts occurred between August 2025 and early March 2026 at a Publix located on South Federal Highway in Boca Raton. Investigators say the couple visited the store dozens of times during that period and used a tactic known as “ticket switching.” This method involves placing or scanning barcodes from lower-priced products in place of more expensive items to reduce the price at checkout.

Authorities say surveillance footage and transaction data helped uncover the scheme. A Publix analyst flagged suspicious purchases linked to the couple’s payment cards, prompting a deeper investigation. Police reviewed at least 52 transactions and determined that nearly 400 items had not been properly scanned. Of those, 369 items were clearly visible as unpaid in security footage, investigators said.

The allegedly stolen merchandise included everyday groceries and household products such as fruit, soda, sparkling water, and toilet paper. The total loss to the store was estimated at $5,302.17.

Police also claim the couple worked together during the incidents. According to the arrest affidavit, the reality star would scan fewer items than she placed in bags at the self-checkout area while her husband distracted store employees. In other instances, investigators allege that the husband had pushed carts containing unpaid merchandise past the store’s final point of sale.

The couple was eventually identified through surveillance footage and a black Range Rover that appeared repeatedly at the store during the alleged thefts. Officers later stopped the vehicle in Boca Raton, leading to their arrest.

During interviews with police, the reality TV star acknowledged being the person shown in the surveillance footage but said she acted alone. She told investigators she was in “survival mode” because she had been unable to work in the United States without a visa. However, officers stated that evidence suggested the thefts involved coordination between the couple.

Both the reality TV star and her husband were charged with aggravated grand retail theft involving property valued at more than $3,000. They were each held on a $10,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
